Enware’s Smart Flow® Water Risk Management System provides healthcare organisations with the service of monitoring the operational health of their water system to ensure it complies with Health Policy directives and National Enhealth guidelines. The service is designed to improve the patient experience while providing certainty and peace of mind to healthcare facility operators who are currently managing water safety risks without clear visibility of the system’s dynamics.
Hospital tap water is a primary source of preventable health acquired infections (HAI’s) however this invisible risk cannot be eliminated, only better managed. Legionella bacteria is naturally occurring in potable water and its survival is dependent on the operational management of the plumbing system.
There are over 200,000 cases of HAIs every year in Australia costing the health system billions of dollars to manage. Both scalding and legionella risks to patients cannot be eliminated, only mitigated through proactive management of the premise plumbing water system. Smart Flow® Water Risk Management System provides hospitals with a trusted partner to share this critical responsibility, guiding performance management of the water system through greater visibility of the operational risks. On best practice manual management, Smart Flow® Water Risk Management System reduces operational costs by 65%, reduces water and energy waste by approx. 30% and ensures patients safety while in the care of the facility.
The system has been implemented throughout Healthcare facilities across Australia and Enware partners with many facilities through the Smart Flow® Water Risk Management System continuing to evolve the system with enhanced data analytics and computer modelling to meet each clients specific operational compliance needs.

About Good Design Awards
The annual Good Design Awards is Australia’s most prestigious international Awards for design and innovation with a proud history dating back to 1958. Good Design Australia remains committed to promoting the importance of design to business, industry, government and the general public and the critical role it plays in creating a better, safer, more prosperous world.
The Good Design Awards Jury spend several days evaluating each entry according to a strict set of design criteria which covers ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ and ‘design impact’. Projects recognised with a Good Design Award must demonstrate excellence in all areas and convince the Jury they are worthy of recognition.
Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving a Good Design Award at this level is a significant achievement given the very high calibre of entries received each year. Australia’s Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence; it represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately improve our quality of life. The projects showcase the brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world.”
